What if the money you already spend every week could start helping to pay your household bills? It sounds a little too good to be true, but sometimes the smartest financial changes aren't about earning more. They're about making your existing money work harder for you ...

The Utility Warehouse Cashback Card can turn your routine shopping into a convenient way to cover your household expenses

The Utility Warehouse Cashback Card can turn your routine shopping into a convenient way to cover your household expenses

One of the biggest mindset shifts I ever made was realising that it's not just about earning more. It's about increasing your income and keeping more of what you already make. Every pound you don't have to spend is a pound that stays in your pocket, and that simple shift can make a real difference over time.

One of my favourite little money hacks is using
the Utility Warehouse Cashback Card!

Rather than paying with my normal debit card when I'm buying groceries, filling up with fuel, grabbing a coffee or shopping online, I simply use the Cashback Card instead. The cashback earned doesn't sit there waiting to be spent on something else. Instead, at the end of each month, it goes directly towards paying for my energy, broadband and home insurance via my Utility Warehouse bill.

The best part is that it doesn't require you to spend more money. You're simply changing how you pay for the things you were already planning to buy. Top it up at the beginning of the month, then use it to pay for all your regular spending. And it's such an easy habit to build. Once you've used it a few times, it quickly becomes second nature, and every shopping trip feels like it's doing two jobs at once.

I was reminded of this when I was at a festival!

I was having an amazing time, buying food, drinks and all those little extras that come with a day out, but instead of feeling guilty about spending money, I knew every purchase was also helping to reduce my household bills.

It completely changed the way I looked at spending. I wasn't just enjoying the experience. I was quietly making my money work harder in the background.

Building financial confidence isn't always about dramatic changes or huge investments. Often it's the small, consistent habits that create the biggest long-term results. Whether you're looking to create extra income, reduce your outgoings or simply become more intentional with your money, finding simple systems that work for you can be incredibly empowering.

Sometimes, something as simple as using the cashback card instead of your debit card is all it takes to start seeing your finances differently.

About Davina Farrer ...

Davina Farrer

I’ve always believed life is too short to sit still and wait for “someday.” From travelling the world in my twenties to taking on challenges like long-distance coastal walks, I’ve built a life around adventure, freedom, and making the most of every opportunity that comes my way.

After becoming a mum, I wanted a way to be present for my family while still creating an income and future for myself. That led me to build a flexible, residual income business that fits around real life - not the other way round. Today, I help others do the same, showing them how to reduce their bills and create more choice with their time.

For me, it’s not just about money - it’s about freedom. Freedom to travel, take on new challenges, and be there for the moments that matter most. If you’re looking for a way to create more flexibility, more income, and more life in your days, you’re in the right place.
